Date:  October 3, 2004

Place:  Widgeon Creek

Location:  The canoe rental is located at Grant Narrows Regional Park approximately 1 hours (60 km) from Vancouver in the District of Pitt Meadows

We started from the dock of Ayla Canoes Rental at the south bank of a waterway know as Grant Narrows.  This waterway marks the point at which Pitt River flows out of the south end of Pitt Lake.  Paddled across the river to the north end of Siwash Island, where we entered Widgeon Slough.  After 800 m, kept right and started ascending Widgeon Creek.  We stayed with the main channel, about 1 1/2 hours' paddle altogether from the ramp at Narrow Grants, we reached the landing place of BC Forest Service Recreation Site.  Because of time limited, we didn't go farther up to Burke Mountain.
